Initial Incident Report
On Friday June 13, 2011 at 5 pm, the Pernier Police Station received a telephone call from a person claiming to be Mr. Albert ZAKO. He said he and his wife had just been attacked in their home. According to him, two armed individuals broke into their home and stole valuables.
Following this call, at 5:10 p.m., a team of police officers from the Pétionville police station, including forensic identification officials, went to the complainant's home located at 58, rue Ramiro in the Pernier district of Port-au -Prince. Upon their arrival at the scene, the police were greeted by Mr. Albert ZAKO and his wife Mrs. Denise ZAKO.

Outside the house, the investigators noted that neither the garden gate nor the front door of the home had been forced. Inside, the investigators found that the rooms were in great disorder.
In the first bedroom, suitcases were open and clothes were scattered. The contents of several pieces of furniture had been thrown on the floor.
In the second bedroom, a jewelry box was open and empty. In the living room, drawers had been opened and a wallet was on the floor. Two chairs with pieces of duct tape attached were overturned on the floor. After the findings made by the forensic identification team, the investigators proceeded to interview the victims.

According to Mr. and Mrs. ZAKO, it was around 4:30 p.m. when two hooded and armed individuals burst into the house. The couple were drinking tea in the living room and did not hear them arrive.
The gate being locked, the ZAKO spouses had not seen fit to close the front door of the house. According to them, their attackers probably climbed the perimeter wall on the side where there is no barbed wire.
The two individuals pointed their guns at them and forced them into the bedrooms. In the first room, while one of the two criminals was watching the couple, the other carried out a thorough search. He grabbed a Samsung laptop.

The two individuals then searched the second bedroom. In a jewelry box, they found and seized a gold necklace worth one thousand five hundred US dollars that Mr. ZAKO had given to his wife a few days earlier for her birthday.
Back down to the living room, they continued the search and found a wallet. They stole the Banque Populaire Haïtienne credit card in the name of Mr. and Mrs. ZAKO that it contained.
The two individuals continued to search the victims' home for a few minutes but found no other valuables or cash. They then forced the couple to sit on chairs and tied them up with duct tape. The two individuals then left the scene. Mr. ZAKO was able to get rid of his bonds by using a Swiss army knife which was placed on a table in the living room. Then he freed his wife and immediately alerted the police.

The victims gave a description of their attackers. The first measures about 1.85 m, he is thin. He wore a black jacket over a blue and white shirt and black jeans. The second is about 1.70 m. He has an athletic look. He wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans pants and ADIDAS sneakers. The two offenders spoke only Creole.
The spouses also provided a photo of the gold necklace.
The officials of the forensic identification service indicated that they had been able to raise in the house of the couple victim of the attack, useful fingerprints for the continuation of the investigation. After informing the Government Commissioner of all their efforts and inviting the victims to come to the Police Station for their testimony, the team from the Pernier Police Station returned to the Pétionville Police Station at 5:45 p.m. to write their report.
